Well, 2024, you slippery devil—you’ve been a kaleidoscope of chaos, connection, and absurdity.
Looking back on Planet Nude’s second orbit, it’s been a year of tectonic shifts: clubs on the brink, leadership shakeups, and the ongoing tug-of-war over nudity’s place in a world both obsessed with and terrified by it. But it’s also been a year of creativity, curiosity, and plenty of naked joy.
In this year-in-review, we’ll climb the mountain of milestones Planet Nude achieved, stroll through the stories that sparked conversation, and then finish it all off with three bold predictions for 2025.
But first, a heartfelt thanks to you—the readers and listeners, the driving force behind this wild experiment. Your curiosity and passion have powered this rocket ship of body freedom and creative expression. Without you, this would be a whisper in the void.
2024, you were a relentless instigator—but you made us sharper, bolder, and ready for whatever comes next. 🚀
Milestones
In our second year, Planet Nude evolved from a promising newsletter posting two to three posts per week into a dynamic daily platform for naturism, body freedom, and cultural exploration. What began as a modest publication now delivers original content every day, with regular features like Strips (naturist-friendly webcomics), Weekly Wraps, Undressed Threads, and News of the Nude.
The results speak volumes: our articles and content received well over two million views this year—four times last year’s total. Weekly views jumped from under 20,000 in January to regularly hitting over 50,000 weekly views by December. Just last week (ending yesterday) was our most trafficked week yet, with nearly 70,000 views over the last seven days. Our subscriber base also doubled this year to more than 6,000 readers in 108 countries and all 50 U.S. states, with paid subscribers growing 145% to over 400.
We published over 400 posts in 2024, with contributions from at least 30 writers, artists, and creators. From examining censorship to celebrating naturist creativity, Planet Nude has become a platform for both naturists and those curious about identity, freedom, and cultural change.
As we prepare to cross the threshold into 2025, let’s take a moment to celebrate what made 2024 so special.

Naturism around the world
This year, we delved into the many ways naturism is practiced, celebrated, and challenged across the globe, both in the present and throughout history.
Nudist News
We brought you original investigations and breaking stories from the naturist world. From the tragic Olive Dell murders to hurricane damage affecting Florida’s nudist clubs, and leadership changes in organizations from Wisconsin to Mexico, we remained at the forefront of naturist reporting. We also exposed scams surrounding the World Naked Bike Ride and provided early coverage of key events like the AANR elections and the INF Congress, keeping readers informed about the latest developments impacting the naturist community.
Nudity and politics
We also explored the intersection of naturism and politics, uncovering threats to naturist freedoms in places like Arkansas, Toronto, Hawaii, and Australia. Through in-depth analysis, we shed light on the political and cultural currents that shape public perceptions of nudity and naturism. By focusing on legislative challenges and societal shifts, we offered a nuanced perspective on the ways politics continues to influence the future of body freedom.
Nudist history
This year, Planet Nude ventured further into the rich and often untold history of nudism, uncovering stories that illuminate the movement’s earliest roots and its broader evolution. From exploring the pre-history of nudism in Africa’s naked heritage to the bold experiments of early nudist leaders, we brought forgotten narratives to light. These stories provided vital context, connecting the early ideals of naturism to the challenges and triumphs of today’s movement.
Art and culture
We kept diving into the creative side of naturism, exploring how body freedom shows up in art, literature, and performance. From interviews with artists breaking boundaries to reviews of films and books that tackle nudist themes, we looked at the ways nudity fuels creativity and challenges norms. These stories highlighted the undeniable connection between naturism and artistic expression, proving once again that art is one of the best places to push back against the rules.
Women’s stories
We always make it a priority to highlight the voices and stories of women in naturism, and 2024 was no different. From personal essays to profiles of trailblazing women throughout history, we focused on experiences that are too often overlooked or underrepresented. These pieces shed light on the challenges and triumphs women face within the naturist community, celebrating their essential role in shaping the movement and its future.

Reflections and Predictions
As we close out 2024, I want to reflect on how the year unfolded compared to our initial predictions last year. Then we will look ahead to 2025 with some new predictions.
Last year’s predictions
We made three bold predictions for 2024. Some of them were accurate, and some were less so. Below is our analysis of how they all turned out.
1. The fate of historic nudist clubs - We were accurate in our prediction that several historic clubs would face closures or sales in 2024, reflecting the vulnerability of long-established institutions. While no significant U.S. nudist organization shuttered this year—one of our loftier predictions—both major U.S. naturist organizations experienced significant leadership shakeups, signaling ongoing changes within the community.
2. Surge in anti-nudity legislation - Though there were fewer legislative attacks than we anticipated based on what we saw in 2023, several threats targeted beaches and specific groups, at least a few notably over culture-war fueled groomer panic. However, there were no sweeping efforts quite like Wisconsin’s 2023 bills—and the year even began with the tentative defeat of those specific proposals. Still, Wisconsin remains a key battleground as the legislature reconvenes next year.
3. The rise of nudist content creators - This prediction came true, but then again, it was already quite true last year. This year, the naturist media landscape expanded ever further with the launch of new podcasts, including Women in Focus, Naked Human with Kerry Kott, and BARE with Me. These efforts, along with other digital content like webcomics and memes, enriched naturist storytelling and fostered connections among creators and audiences alike.
Predictions for 2025
Here’s what we see on the horizon for the naturist movement in 2025—trends, challenges, and shifts that we believe are likely to shape the year ahead.
1. A reckoning on social media
With widespread dissatisfaction over Elon Musk’s leadership of X and Meta’s admitted flaws in content moderation, naturist organizations will push harder for reform in 2025. Many naturists have flocked to BlueSky, which tolerates nudity but still suffers from inconsistent policies. This shift reflects a larger reckoning: naturist groups will increasingly demand recognition for non-sexual nudity as distinct from explicit content. Expect public advocacy campaigns, petitions, and even collaborations between organizations to pressure social platforms for change.
2. Naturism as political resistance
With escalating political pressures and a conservative agenda targeting personal freedoms, naturism will take on an even sharper edge as a form of political resistance in 2025. Public nudity at events like the World Naked Bike Ride or nude protests will emerge as bold acts of defiance against authoritarian policies. These demonstrations, while drawing broader attention to autonomy and freedom, will also face heightened backlash, including stronger legal crackdowns, public hostility, and intensified media scrutiny. Despite these challenges, such acts of resistance will galvanize a new wave of activists and reinforce naturism’s role as a powerful statement of personal and collective liberation.
3. A reinvention of nudist clubs
As financial pressures mount and public naturist spaces face increased challenges, 2025 will push nudist clubs to evolve in order to survive. Clubs that adapt to the needs of new generations—focusing on inclusivity, modern amenities, and fresh programming like wellness events and social activities—will be better positioned to thrive. Meanwhile, we predict a rise in backyard clubs. We will continue to see new micro-communities emerging around private spaces and non-landed events as naturists seek more intimate and accessible alternatives. Reinvention will be essential for clubs and communities alike to remain relevant and vibrant in the years ahead.
As always, we welcome your thoughts! Do you agree with our reflections and predictions? What trends do you think will shape naturism in the year ahead? Share your ideas in the comments—we’d love to hear from you.

Planet Nude's integrity, honesty and willingness to cover a wide variety of content, especially when it comes to standing up for marginalized groups, is one of the biggest (of many!) reasons I stay tuned. You, yourself Evan, have helped me strive to try to be more positive in my outlooks and your influence was a strong factor in helping me get through a very difficult time when I let despair for our society dig deep into my being. Planet Nude continues to teach that there is hope out there... That the haters don't have to win.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
It's hard to believe how essential Planet Nude has become in just two short years. In terms of nudity and nudism, this is my go-to source for news and politics, history, personal inspiration, networking, and entertainment (yay, comics!). I'm proud to be both a paid subscriber and a contributor. I must say, it's a bit of a thrill to see one of my articles listed among the top guest posts of 2024. Thank you, Evan, for giving me a voice in this community.
