What role should naturists play in defending freedom?
In this week’s #UndressedThread, we’re exploring the political challenges and opportunities for naturism today
Recent discussions, like the December Open Forum on The Naturism Community Substack, have raised pressing questions about the future of naturism in a changing political climate. Concerns about initiatives like Project 2025 and the regulation of content have left many wondering how naturists and advocates—whose ideas are often misunderstood or misperceived as obscene, historically speaking—can navigate these uncertainties. And just this week, Planet Nude published an editorial arguing that naturism is inherently political—not in a partisan sense, but as a movement that challenges societal norms and defends autonomy. So, in this week’s #UndressedThread, let’s build on these ideas and discuss how naturists can unite to protect freedom and foster inclusivity—without succumbing to division. Please keep the conversation thoughtful and respectful—disrespectful comments will be removed.
What responsibilities do naturists have in advocating for personal freedom and autonomy?
How can we ensure that naturism remains inclusive and welcoming in challenging times?

We ought to be supportive of, if not advocates for, all minority rights (nudist/naturist communities comprise a small minority), and individual rights over one’s body in particular (medical rights from a abortion to transition rights come to mind). Threats to one minority or one person in these contexts are threats to all. Wins for one community or individual are wins for all.
I think it's a really bad idea to be associated with any advocacy group and be labeled left wing. It will only hurt naturism. Getting naked in nature or at a resort is not political. There are a lot of right leaning nudists. Myself being one.
