Evacuated 6 days due to Eaton fire. Two friends lost homes in Palisades. One is a building of significance, the other contained historic material. The scope of loss is indescribable.

So glad you were able to stay safe and very sorry for your friends’ losses. Multiple members of my family evacuated and remain away from home, but luckily no physical damages.

I’m determined to offer help to others as others did to us. Expert advice from the TV is to offer specific, concrete things. In other words, not “let me know if you need anything.

Yes, horrific, life-changing losses. Glad you are safe but the winds are supposed to be back tonight. Hopefully the firebreaks they were able to cut over the last few days will hold.

There is this juxtaposition that is difficult to describe. I was on set for Tim's movie, intending to be a nude extra before those plans shifted to Arizona. One of the other members on set had the house that their grandfather built and aunt currently lived in, burned completely to the ground. Their lead actress was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. My sister-in-law was 2 blocks from the mandatory evacuation and 10 blocks from the fire line, but appears safe for now. My in-laws live in a different part of LA about 40 miles away and are getting a little bit of smoke but are otherwise fine. They hosted a friend and their cat to give them a break from the heavier smoke and stress, but otherwise there is this life must go on feeling. How do you capture both the complete destruction and the survival together? Your article did a great job at it!

Thank you! I realized quickly all I could do was try to capture a few stories. There is no way to capture it all, because of the massive scale. My very best to you and your loved ones right now. Two of my siblings and their families have also evacuated and have remained away.

Of all the natural disasters, fire is such a complete destruction without salvation. Living in Sunny South Florida with its frequent hurricanes, tornados and flooding, I can empathize and sympathize with the devastation our extended California naturist family and the good people of that state are facing. My husband and I certainly don't have much money, but we've reached out to our California naturist friends and extended family members to learn who has lost their home and we will donate directly to them. I'm pleased to learn of these two naturist films being produced. Another film or series is in its very early stage. They have Interviewed dozens of naturist/nudists living in clothes-free communities in Florida. The show is being underwritten by one of the top three a major streaming networks. (That's real progress.) The goal is to explain naturism and why people chose to live in these communities with its benefits, concerns, etc. These are budding rays of progress that must be nurtured and supported by us who know and live its values.

Thanks for putting this together Evan. It just shows how even in the small So Cal nudist community, so many people are affected by a disaster like this.

It's a huge tragedy for many & extremely sorry.. Evacuation in any of the natural disasters is very painful & disturbs every area of the life. Climate change & global warming are slipping out of the control of mankind & we may have to face natural disasters everyday & at any part of the world.
