Kerry Kott is a woman on a mission to connect people with nature, to help them shed their fears and judgments, and to guide them towards a more fulfilling and authentic life. Her chosen vehicle for this mission is her project, Wild Woman Events, which offers immersive experiences of nudity and nature to women seeking to rediscover themselves and their relationship with the world around them.
Kerry's journey to this point has been a winding one, filled with personal struggles and revelations. She grew up in Michigan, surrounded by nature and with a deep appreciation for its beauty and power. She studied Chinese medicine in her twenties, and eventually became a licensed physician of oriental medicine. However, she also struggled with body image issues and a sense of disconnection from herself and others. Discovering the power of nudity and nature helped her begin to explore these new themes through photography, that she began to find more of a sense of healing and purpose in nudity’s therapeutic properties.
"The main medicine is ultimately enveloped in nudity and nature. It is for women who are feeling a deep yearning to connect with the earth and reclaim their femininity. Their femininity as in their natural rhythm, their intuition, and following their heart."
- Kerry Kott
This belief is at the heart of Wild Woman Events, which Kerry founded in 2021. Through these events, Kerry offers women the opportunity to connect with nature in a way that is both liberating and transformative. Participants are invited to shed their clothes and immerse themselves in the natural world, guided by Kerry's expertise and intuitive guidance.
“After 10 years of working with patients and living in the city, nature was missing for me. I didn’t want to be indoors anymore. Seeing a patient one at a time inside a building wasn’t lighting me up anymore... I grew up in the wilderness, out in the country, and driving to be with nature and being in the loud noises and pollution and lack of connection with the earth in the city, wasn’t working for me anymore.”
The events take place in wild natural locations, away from the distractions of modern life, and provide participants with an opportunity to strip away the layers of societal conditioning that prevent them from fully embracing their true selves. These events involve activities like naked hiking, yoni sunning, and nude nature photography, as well as non-sexual touch, intentional silence, and other practices to help participants connect with their bodies and each other.
The healing power of nudity
Nudity, Kerry says, is an essential part of the practice.
“It’s essential because it’s where the greatest medicine lives. Nudity is so wrapped up in shame and guilt and isn’t even about a naked body. In order to access the healing in regard to sexual trauma and shame, body dysmorphia, self-abandonment, boundary issues, the nature relationship, sister wounds, womb trauma, and the feminine wound, we have to get naked and BE with all of this. It is THE medicine.”
For Kerry, the goal of these events is not just to offer a fun and adventurous experience, but to help women rediscover their innate power and beauty.
"It’s an incredible freedom," Kerry says. "No hiding. No tucking anything away. No attempting to look or be different than I am. It’s the release of a huge fucking weight. I want every women to experience this. This level of freedom in a safe environment."
Through her work with Wild Woman Events, Kerry has seen firsthand the profound impact that nudity and nature can have on women's lives. Participants have reported feeling more confident, more connected to their bodies, and more inspired to live authentically.
"We are all children of nature. The trees are not hiding themselves, nor are the elk or the deer," Kerry says. "Everything is happening right before our eyes. Bodies are seen. Pooping and peeing is seen. Love is seen. Community is seen. Hierarchy is seen. Everything is witnessed. That’s what I want for humanity. To be so radically with ourselves that all of it is welcomed, just as is."
Kerry's work is not without its challenges, of course. Nudity and sexuality are still deeply taboo topics in our culture, and many people are resistant to the idea of shedding their clothes and exploring these themes in public, social, or therapeutic settings. But Kerry remains undaunted, guided by her deep sense of purpose and her unwavering belief in the power of nature and nudity to heal and transform.
The retreats
Wild Woman Events offers various options for ceremonies and retreats that vary in length and price, with options ranging from 3-hour ceremonies to multi-day journeys. In addition to the ceremonies and retreats, Kott also offers Wild Woman Residencies, which provide an opportunity for individual vision quests on her homestead outside of scheduled events.
As Kerry continues to expand her work with Wild Woman Events, she remains focused on her ultimate goal: to help women rediscover their power, shed their fears and judgments, and connect with the natural world in a way that is both liberating and transformative. Through her powerful and inspiring work, she is helping to pave the way towards a more authentic and empowered future for women everywhere. 🪐
I grew up in the central lower peninsula of Michigan, and I am familiar with this area. I imagine there's a lot of bug spray being used here. As a kid I can remember clouds of mosquitoes coming out to feast.
You had to get the timing down right. It wasn't so bad in sunny open areas and early in the am. Late afternoon/evening was miserable. OTOH, during the day you had black flies, no see-ums, and deer flies to entertain you.
Genuinely her work is commendable. It needs very courageous nature & very clear thoughts. Best wishes for her mission.
