I find it curious that while nudist clubs are going out of business in California they are thriving in Florida. Isn't California liberal and Florida conservative? The weather in both is compatible with year round nudity. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Florida is the only state I know where you can own a luxury home in a nudist gated community. Can anyone explain why this is?

Having lived in California for many years and also having visited Florida many times while my parents were alive, I can assure you that California isn't as compatible with year-round nudity as Florida - unfortunately. I don't think political leaning is much of a factor. I think several naturist resorts in Florida have also closed or become swinger places in recent years. Pasco County has several gated communities for naturists and there could well be others elsewhere in FL. One factor that may be important is that many naturist "snowbirds" visit FL in the winter, so the resorts can operate all year. That wouldn't work in most of California. I know one California naturist who had a home in both CA and (a gated community in) FL.
