We need to take a lesson from the Europeans … especially the Germans, French, Spanish and Scandinavians. It would be heaven to strip off on any beach without any issues.
What about UK? They have published guidelines for policing public nudity (non-sexual), establishing it as fully legal. We need this to spread throughout the globe.
Yes and it applies anywhere in UK not just beaches. Nude hiking in the countryside i perfectly legal and extremely popular now the police is to inform "alarmed" callers as long as it's non sexual it is perfectly legal. There are no laws forbidding nudity in the UK. .I have a copy of the Police pamphlet explaining the situation,, but don't know how to post it here
Yeah, we had to look into this at one point - when our neighours at our old house sent a letter complaining that they could see right into our house and that they didn't want to see us naked. We put up a moveable screen and spent time online, a bit afraid for a week or so, about further action. Online research and resources at British Naturism site confirmed that we were ok. There's offences of public indecency, yeah, but the onus is on the observer to prove that they've been seriously disturbed by what they see. And no 2020s UK court would support any claims that seeing a naked body is deeply disturbing in and if itself.
When you say house do you mean inside or in the garden. If they have complained for seeing you indoors then I think they may be in danger of being charged with voyeurism 🤔
We'll, it's both. But this was our reaction....their upstairs bedroom window looks across to ours and frankly, it's their job not to look over if they're offended. But we got a bit scared when the letter of complaint arrived. Anyway, we've moved house now and got shrubs all around and we've placed windows carefully lol
We’re not going to wait though. Our home, backyard, Olive Dell Ranch and isolated forest areas by a creek are all available to us. The culture might eventually catch up but individuals need to do what they can.
Yeah. That appears to be accurate. I’m told by someone there that the decision could possibly be reversed but we’ll have to see. Not counting on it. We plan to simply make occasional trips to Glen Eden.
IMO, public nude spaces are our ONLY way forward and if we can't find a way to come together to fight for them, and fight against not only the fundamentalism and conservatism that threatens them from without, but also the sexualization, individualism and selfishness that threatens them from within, nudism will be lost to us completely.
People are more generally aware of social public nudity but we need to bring the campaign to the streets, parks and beaches providing education about the joy of nudity and seeking the support of citizens who might be interested in pursuing it. A million signatures on petitions around the country, organized nationally can move a lot of political weight to create more public nude spaces.
Nude beaches and public spaces are a great way of introducing newcomers. My first experiences were places like Mazo and Hippy Hollow. The screening process for private clubs was too much for me as a younger person. I'm curious how many first stripped off in public at a beach vs. private club.
For me, it was at Riis Park, a [then] legally clothing-optional beach in NYC. It was 197O. I was 17. I had seen ads for a couple of private clubs and contacted them. As you said, the screening process (I got no further than No Single Men) made it clear that I would be unwelcome. Had it not been for truly public spaces, I might still be sitting in my bedroom nude 54 years later.
I believe that nudist/naturist should not be forced to hide in the shadows of society. Governments need to stop being so evangelical puritanical when it comes to nudity and their restrictions on the who, what, when and where of it all.
If public nudity is allowed only a little more each year, it will perhaps gain momentem. A few more naturist each year snowballs (friends, family etc..) I think baby steps are better than forcing the issue too much at one time. People have a tendency to push back when forced to accept something all at once. So yes, I think its very important to expand nudity in public places.
The freedom to be naked has to be a fundamental right, else the morality police will eventually demand to control what we wear in private. We already have plenty of laws exercising control over behaviour but in the past the harm, whatever it is, has to be proven. Now it is quite possible for a person to say 'I felt threatened' and for that somehow to be accepted as actual evidence of threat - put another way, the burden of proof of innocence falls on the accused. If I were to walk naked down my street, or in my garden (which is, technically, legal here) I know some of my neighbours would complain and the police would likely be called. I would then have to prove (somehow) I had not gone out with the deliberate intention of causing the observer distress. Since intention/distress are attributes of a state of mind we are into Orwellian territory. So, yes, I think it is essential to fight prudist mind-creep by demanding the offended person (aka victim) provide proof of their offendedness - if the sight of a naked male person brings up unfortunate childhood memories that is their problem and therapists are quite skilled in dealing with it...
Definitely make it legal where people would normally wear swimsuits or exercise shirtless, wooded hiking trails, ones own front yard . Maybe not next to schools, churches, shopping centers. Keep it within reason, like the Europeans.
Por supuesto que es muy importante que haya más espacios nudistas, porque es solo hacer lo mismo con ropa que sin ropa, el respeto hacia los demás es más usual entre nudistas que entre gente con ropa.
When we were in Barcelona, Spain a few years ago it was legal to be nude in public although we only saw one fellow, 30y/o'ish exercising the privilege. Well, I did strip off on our Hotel roof top patio.
There are two sides to this one side says yes and the other side says no. The people who say no do not want to see people naked and they don't want their kids seeing people naked because they say that they are not 18+. The people who say yes are comfortable seeing people naked with no problem and do not have a problem with their kids seeing other people naked. One problem with expanding public nude spaces is some people are just going to be there taking photos and videos of those who are naked/nude. For now, nude spaces should be at designated areas like beaches, nudist communities/resorts, nudist cruises, etc. I wouldn't have a problem of public nudity but a lot of people would have problems.
True Freedom is Freedom of Body. WE should be able to do whatever WE want with OUR OWN BODY! WE should decide what WE wear or don't wear on our bodies, including what we put on our heads or just not wearing any clothes. WE, should be FREE to decided what substances WE put or don't put into OUR OWN bodies through our mouths or shots. WE should be free to choose what WE tatoo on OUR OWN bodies or personal piercings. There should be No restrictions on our choice of drugs or food. No restrictions or bans of what knowledge we put into our bodies by reading certain books. WE should be able to decide what physical changes WE can make to OUR OWN bodies to match OUR OWN BODY IMAGE to OUR OWN gender choice. Finally, a woman should always have the right to decide what to abort from her OWN BODY. Nudity is just the tip of the iceberg. and no one can be truly FREE if WE have to hide OUR OWN bodies under clothes!
I believe that, although it's important that the world begins to lose its "body-shame", and allow people who wish to not wear clothes unless for temperature comfort or body protection to do so, but I don't see it as the most pressing or vital change in attitude that people of the world need to take, urgently!!
To me, an overall attitude shift to "you are free to do anything you wish - as long as it doesn't encroach on the rights of anyone else to do what THEY wish", would be far more vital, yet sadly, far less likely!
My wife and I first visited a nude beach 7 years ago, it was a feel of freedom and we both loved it.
A couple years later we tried a clothing optional resort to escape the harsh northern winters, the people were wonderful and we made some great friends. We now live in a clothing optional community, our children visit and found that they also love the people we now call neighbors.
There is a misconception that nudity means sex, that is so far from the truth. Nudity is freedom.
Re: "There is a misconception that nudity means sex, that is so far from the truth. Nudity is freedom." Hmmmm . . . yeah - true. It's all in people's minds, isn't it?
Our whole culture needs a shift, a beautiful shift.
We need to take a lesson from the Europeans … especially the Germans, French, Spanish and Scandinavians. It would be heaven to strip off on any beach without any issues.

Non sexual
Hyphenating this is correct in the United States.
We’re not going to wait though. Our home, backyard, Olive Dell Ranch and isolated forest areas by a creek are all available to us. The culture might eventually catch up but individuals need to do what they can.
You’re fortunate
Sorry to hear you seem to have now lost Olive Dell Ranch as an option!
Yeah. That appears to be accurate. I’m told by someone there that the decision could possibly be reversed but we’ll have to see. Not counting on it. We plan to simply make occasional trips to Glen Eden.

Don't get out much to go to Hippy Hollow. Because where I live, I can only go nude outside at night time.

I have a friend who strolls naked through parts of San Francisco every day. It's a different vibe up there as opposed to the midwest.
