Weekly Wrap: Feb 25-Mar 2
This week on Planet Nude: Exploring global nudity trends, diving into the classic webcomic Loxie & Zoot, and celebrating Women's History Month with a new episode of 'Women in Focus'
Welcome back to another Weekly Wrap. This week’s longest post was our February edition of News of the Nude, a monthly series that I spend far too much time compiling and writing each month, but which I think is worth the effort. After doing it regularly for fourteen months now, I always feel very aware of what’s going on with nudity around the world in a way that I never did before. I hope that it’s equally enlightening for readers. This week we also revisited the classic 2000’s era Australian webcomic Loxie & Zoot, and kicking off Women’s History Month we shared the latest episode of Women in Focus podcast with a new episode by Helen Berriman.
We love sharing women’s history here on Planet Nude every month, but seeing as we now have a full month dedicated to that, expect even more in the next few weeks, as well as highlighting more women writers and voices in this community.
Anyway, let’s get to the stories from this week. 🚀
Stories from this week:
News of the Nude, Feb. 2024
This week we shared our 14th edition of News of the Nude, our monthly news series examining nudity in the media. We cover events from confrontations over beach access in Australia and the US to significant victories that underscore the resilience and activism within the nudist community. Our exploration extends beyond nudism into cultural and artistic expressions of nudity and the challenges artists face with social media censorship.
In addition to these compelling stories, this edition also announced new sponsorships with Naturist Action Committee (NAC) and Naturist Education Foundation (NEF), organizations deeply rooted in advocating for naturist rights and education. This partnership promises to enrich our content and empower our community with informed and insightful perspectives on the issues we hold dear. Please check out each organization and support their work at www.naturistaction.org, and www.naturisteducation.org, respectively.

Grace Crowley's naturist webcomics
Loxie & Zoot is a webcomic created by Grace Crowley which ran from 2003 to 2006, during the big webcomic boom when titles like Penny Arcade, Ctrl+Alt+Del, and 8-Bit Theater rose to prominence. Its titular characters run an Australian nudist camp together called Koala Bares, populated by a diverse cast of characters including multiple men named Herb and an eccentric old man named Mungo who seems to be able to see into the future.

‘Women in Focus’ Ep. 4 with Siobhan Hazzan
In this episode of Women in Focus, Helen Berriman speaks with Siobhan Hazzan, an ordained pastor and co-chair of the Christian Naturist Fellowship, currently living at the Naturist Foundation in Orpington, UK. Siobhan’s journey into naturism is a compelling story of transformation and faith. Once unable to imagine a life without traditional garments, she now embraces naturism as a path to spiritual and personal liberation.
