Many years ago, I purchased a public domain copy on VHS. The print was muddy and splicey, but offered a fascinating insight into the very early days of nudist films. When the BluRay came out, I was amazed by the print quality...very pleased. It's an interesting film and offers a storyline instead of the usual fluff.
Nice, Brett! You made a great case for Unashamed's transcending it's exploitive beginnings. I'm going to see what I can find out about Allen Stuart, William Lively, and P.C. Prescott-Richardson.
I believe the film is Stuart's only directorial credit, but I'm not sure about the writers. I think one of them may have gone on to do some early noir stuff, if I recall from the commentary. Anything you find out would be great to hear!
I took it as far as I was willing. All three have imdb listings, leading with Unashamed. Lively seems to have been most active, with credits for three Republic serials, not exactly a life's work. Lively was born in 1907 and died in 1973. That's it and that's all. Once again, thanks!
