I've also really enjoyed reading this detailed history, even though I've never been to Tennessee nor am I likely to ever get there. This history underlines how it could be such a struggle to get nudist clubs up and running, having to deal with huge prejudices against simple straightforward social nudity and then construct everything. That some had such a commitment to nudism in such settings says much to me about how they were convinced that nudism is the way to live.
I struggle to think that similar efforts could be made now. In all sectors of society now there are plenty of people who can say - 'what you need to do is....' while neglecting the fact that they could lift a finger, or more, to help too. This applies to nudists that I know as much as other people. There are nudists with the skills to do similar now, but I'm not sure that the commitment levels would be the same.
These posts also say to me that we should treasure the nudist clubs that exist and try to avoid them being bought out by those textile hordes! Or simply folding due to the lack of commitment. Society evolves, nudism evolves, some today might not want settings like these to socialise nude, but I think a lot of newcomers might be encouraged to join nudist clubs where they can start sampling our way of life among committed nudists.
Another great post of historical significance that is well-researched and well told. I thoroughly enjoyed the three posts. Combine them together and they would be considered required reading for those who want to know more about the history of naturism. If most of us were to research the facts told in your story, we would never find all the pieces and parts and put them together. Well done, my friend.
