Six arrested for nudity north of Blind Creek Beach
Renovation closures push beachgoers into non-designated area, prompting enforcement and concern at Little Mud Beach
Six people were arrested last weekend in Florida near Little Mud Creek Beach, about a mile north of Blind Creek Beach, after St. Lucie County deputies responded to complaints of unauthorized nudity outside the county’s only designated clothing-optional area.
According to statements from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies charged six individuals on Saturday, October 25, with indecent exposure of sexual organs after observing them nude near the Little Mud Boat Ramp. The sheriff’s office said patrols have increased in recent weeks following “numerous complaints regarding unauthorized nudity,” and reminded visitors to “stay within the clearly posted nude-optional boundaries and to cover up before leaving those areas or entering parking lots and public spaces.”
A copy of the mugshots the sheriff’s department posted on its Facebook page illustrated the names and charges of the arrested individuals, though Planet Nude has chosen not to republish the photographs out of respect for personal privacy.
Blind Creek Beach was officially designated clothing-optional by the county commission in 2020 following years of advocacy by Treasure Coast Naturists (TCN). The beach’s main parking lot has been closed since January for a renovation project that includes new paving, showers, and restrooms. During the closure, some beachgoers have accessed the shoreline through the Little Mud trailhead—a non-designated area located north of the official nude zone.
According to TCN’s Carl Flick, the county originally designated 1,820 linear feet for clothing-optional use. While staff later indicated this could be administratively expanded to 2,500 feet, that increase was never formally enacted—leaving the official boundary shorter than many visitors may have assumed.

Warnings went out weeks earlier
The arrests came despite repeated warnings from TCN in the weeks prior. In addition to posting a warning in bold red text at the top of their website, the group relayed through their email mailing list on September 17th that they had been contacted directly by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. According to TCN, the patrol captain called to advise that deputies had received “several complaints about nudity at Little Mud” and were now instructed “to go out onto the beach twice a day and tell people they need to move.” The captain also warned that if the situation continued, “stronger action” could follow, and that the sheriff was consulting with the county attorney to determine next steps.
“We were asked to spread this to our beachgoers so that we can avoid things getting ugly,” TCN told its members at the time.
Two weeks later, on October 1, the group reiterated the message, writing:
“We are asking you, please, to take this request seriously. Please do not go nude outside of the designated clothing-optional area. … The nudists are currently being perceived as a nuisance, and this kind of negative attention is not good for our cause.”
After last weekend’s arrests, TCN issued another statement warning members to stay south of the Little Mud parking area, about three-quarters of a mile down the beach, and to contact the group if they know anyone involved in the incident.
Community impact and broader implications
Local media quickly picked up the story, amplifying images of the arrested individuals shared on the sheriff’s social media. The story then went global, with the UK’s Daily Mail publishing a story about it just this morning. The resulting coverage risks casting a shadow over Florida’s broader nude-recreation movement at a time when advocates across the state are working to expand lawful naturist spaces.
On Florida’s Gulf Coast, Tampa Bay Free Beaches (TBFB) is currently leading a major campaign to establish a new family-friendly clothing-optional section at East Beach in Fort De Soto Park, Pinellas County. The group launched a coordinated letter-writing initiative earlier this month to persuade county commissioners to approve the designation—an effort supported by many naturists who hope to see a legal option return to the Gulf side after nearly three decades without one.
Advocates emphasize that maintaining strong relationships with local authorities is essential to preserving and expanding legal nude recreation. As TCN noted in its October 1 bulletin, “If we ever have hope of asking for an expansion of the clothing-optional area in the future, we need to restore and maintain our good standing with the County.”
With Blind Creek’s main access expected to reopen in November, naturist leaders hope stability will soon return to Florida’s only county-designated nude beach. Until then, visitors are urged to heed posted boundaries—a short detour north, they warn, could set back years of progress statewide. 🪐

How on earth can people be arrested for being in their natural state. The human body is not indecent. Laws that criminalize the naked form are. The only way that a person can be indecent is by way of an act. Doesn't your constitution protect people from this breach of personal expression. If so how can a local law override the constitution. Wake up American people, express your rights before you lose them altogether.

Fortunately it's something that doesn't happen in England as nudity is permitted on any beach providing you are not going out to shock anyone 🏖️
