New Nudist Podcast: The story behind Skinny Dip Day
How one man turned a skinny dip into a global fundraiser for healing and body freedom
As we approach Skinny Dip Day 2025, I want to reshare an episode of the New Nudist Podcast from last year that’s especially worth revisiting right now.
In Episode 34, Scott Cline interviews Thomas Francine, founder of SkinnyDipDay.org, the international body-positive celebration that’s grown into a charitable movement. What started as a joyful excuse to swim nude evolved into a powerful movement to raise money for the Fistula Foundation—an organization that provides free surgeries for women suffering from a devastating childbirth injury that’s curable but widely untreated in many parts of the world. In its short history, SkinnyDipDay.org has already funded dozens of these life-changing procedures.
Tom shares how his own struggles with body shame led him to skinny dipping, and how that deeply personal experience inspired him to launch a fundraiser built around joy, vulnerability, and collective impact.
If you’re new to the cause or just want to hear the heart behind this weekend’s campaign, this episode is a great place to start:
