Introducing Nudie Shack, a new comic by Jerry King
Coming to Strips: Classic gag humor meets a naturist twist
Jerry King is one of the most prolific gag cartoonists working today, with credits that span magazines, books, greeting cards, and more. His work has appeared everywhere from Playboy to The Saturday Evening Post, and his sharp, single-panel wit has entertained readers around the world.
Now, Jerry is bringing that trademark sense of humor to Planet Nude with Nudie Shack, a new monthly series coming to Planet Nude Strips. Set in a lively nudist community, Nudie Shack blends everyday naturist life with the kind of wacky characters and situations Jerry has built a career on. The result is lighthearted, mischievous, and proudly nude fun. The premiere “episode” is coming very (very) soon to Strips, and future episodes will show up reliably on Planet Nude every month on the 4th Friday.
To mark the launch, we asked Jerry a few questions about the inspiration behind the series and what readers can expect. 🚀
Q&A with Jerry King
What sparked the idea for Nudie Shack, and how would you describe the kind of humor readers can expect from the series?
I love the movie Caddyshack. It’s my type of humor. So, I imagined a nudist community with fun characters, wacky situations and the humor of an idiot cartoonist.
You’re known for your prolific cartooning — how does drawing in a naturist setting open up new kinds of jokes for you?
I was a cartoonist for Playboy magazine for over 20 years, so drawing cartoons about a nudist community is right up my alley. My characters will be proud of their bodies, but imperfect as people, as we all are. Every episode will be the characters getting into some type of innocent trouble.
What do you hope readers take away from your work on Planet Nude?
We’re all imperfect, we love having fun, and who needs clothes!
Do you see Nudie Shack as a world with recurring characters, or more as a rotating cast of gags and situations?
Both. There will be regular characters, and some who just drop in for a situation.
If you had to sum up the spirit of Nudie Shack in one sentence, what would it be?
Life doesn’t have to be so dang serious and filled with depressing drama. 🪐
