Wow, just wow. The rapid-fire changes in the California nudist world are both dizzying and concerning. Yet there is still hope. Maybe Olive Dell will continue on as it is, as Becki Kilborn has promised. Maybe a group is able to buy Lupin and turn it into a cooperative. And maybe the new owners of Desert Sun will give us a pleasant surprise about their intentions. But I'm thinking that the chances of all three of those things happening are pretty slim.

How do you pull apart the gentrification of a geography from an affinity with naturism/nudism? Especially with the political overtones happening lately. It's difficult.

I think the recent sales could be more tied to gentrification and generation needing to either make profit or being unable to afford continual maintenance at a price tag that is acceptable to its consumer market.

The end result may be the same in terms of presence in California, but the takeaway is different. As Maya Angelou said, "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." Less presence is a defeat, but also a catalyst.

I don't live in the US, but the city-scape near me would be definitely not be affordable for a naturist/nudist-exclusive venue. New ways of organizing, new ways of creating space, new ways of living. This all can happen.
