Thousands march nude through Mexico’s cities
Día al Desnudo 2025 celebrates body freedom with back-to-back events in Guadalajara and CDMX

On back-to-back weekends this May, Mexico’s growing naturist community stripped away stigma—literally and figuratively—during the 2025 edition of Día al Desnudo, the country’s annual naked protest and celebration of body freedom. Now in its third year in Mexico City and fourth in Guadalajara, the two events drew an estimated total of over 1,500 participants across both cities, confirming the movement’s continued momentum and cultural resonance.
Since its founding in 2022, Día al Desnudo has steadily grown in both size and visibility. The first march in Mexico City in 2023 drew around 400 participants, the second roughly 700, and this year the event reached approximately 1,000 in Mexico City alone. Founder and organizer Héctor Martínez told Planet Nude that over 40 media outlets covered this year’s events, reflecting growing public interest and cultural relevance.
The celebration began in Guadalajara on Saturday, May 24, where attendees gathered at the historic Parque Morelos for that city’s fourth annual nude day. Activities included naked yoga, body-positive art, a communal picnic, and a neon-themed pool afterparty. “Overall it went very well,” said Martínez. “I’m happy with the final result.”
One week later, on Saturday, May 31, the energy shifted to Mexico City, where the event kicked off with a group photo on the steps of the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Participants—many seasoned nudists, some newcomers—then walked nude to the Jardín del Arte in the San Rafael neighborhood, where they joined yoga sessions, dance classes, and community activities in the open air.
“The amount of people that participated, the pictures we took at a very emblematic monument… looking back while we were walking to the park and seeing a thousand people marching proudly—it’s hard to explain, but seeing something you imagined materialize is impactful in a positive way,” Martínez said.
Local authorities maintained a respectful presence at both events, and organizers were clear about the rules: no drugs, no politics, and no sexual behavior. Participants were urged to ask for consent before taking photos, and to bring sunscreen, water, and a positive attitude.
Blanca, a participant and founder of the Nudtopía group, told El Universal that Mexico’s nudist community still lacks dedicated spaces. “We want people to see that we’re normal people,” she said. “It has nothing to do with sex—we just live the same way anyone else would, but without clothes.”1
Martínez noted that Mexico City’s march has taken on a life of its own. “In Mexico City I feel like it’s been embraced by both organizers and participants. Almost as if I disappeared it would go on even without me—like if it managed to have a life of its own,” he said. “Which is something I’m very happy about.” 🪐

Héctor and his fellow organizers have knocked it out of the park with these events! Their phenomenal success is a beacon of hope for naturists and nudists everywhere. Now if someone could just take this template and apply it in other locations…!
I participated in the 2019 World Naked Bike Ride Mexico City, which brings together about two thousand nude bicyclists body painted taking over the city each year in June. I was also part of the Spencer Tunick event in Mexico City during the pandemic, not the first one which started off so many Mexican nudists and naturists. Mexico with its many different nudist-naturist groups all over this country with the perfect climate is definitely light years ahead of nearby neighboring countries. In Mexico, the nudist-naturists are young, in their twenties, thirties, forties and more join each day. Playa Zipolite is of course where they all meet during the year.
