I understand your feelings about public nudity. I share the simple desire to be nude wherever I choose to be. I wish I had the courage to be as forthright as you, being a shy very short old man. oh well, at least I can live naked at home and in my private yard.
It's nice to hear from someone who gets it. Thanks.
You need to do what you're comfortable with, and I'm not suggesting that you should be bolder ("should" is a horrible word). That said, it saddens me that you allow self-judgement to deprive you of doing what you'd enjoy. This is your life, my friend, and -- as we oldsters know all too well -- the clock is ticking. I sometimes need to push through that feeling that I'm too old to go naked, and that's when I remind myself of how important it is for ALL ages, body types, etc, to be seen. Putting ourselves out there DESPITE perceived physical "imperfections" and "shortcomings" liberates us and sends encouragement to others who may need it.
Meanwhile, I envy you for having a private yard in a nude-friendly climate. We San Franciscans are experiencing our coldest and foggiest summer since the 1960s.
Thanks very much! I appreciate hearing that, especially considering how genuinely committed you are to sharing ideas and allowing your own nudity to be seen. A tip of my hat, which is all I'm wearing.
Hi, Bill. Please re-read paragraph 9 pf the story, which lays out the [then proposed] changes to the law. Basically: "Bans on nudity already exist in The City’s parks and Port property, and Wiener’s legislation would expand them to include sidewalks, plazas, parklets and public transit. The law would allow nudity at parades and big annual events such as Bay to Breakers and, of course, the BDSM-themed Folsom Street Fair.” That pretty much sums things up.
So, except at events with permits as laid out above, TOTAL nudity is now banned... but it's legal as long as one's genitals are covered and anus isn't exposed. That said, enforcement is fairly lax, especially in the Castro and Haight-Ashbury districts.
sorry it took awhile to respond. I almost never wear any clothes other than flipflops outside. Never inside. everyone knows that I am a nudist, even those who probably have little interest in knowing this. I am proud to say that I have been a nudist, if part time for the past 50 years. Living as a retired gay man there are lots of naked pool parties to attend. But the one thing that pisses me off is that public nudity is explicitly outlawed in Palm Springs. blame it on the spring break many years ago. LOL. A measure to modify this failed last year but the city approved the first stand up gay men's sex club. go figure. the gay mayor of Cathedral City wanted a naked bike ride but sadly he died, along with his efforts. Hopefully as Palm Springs fills up more and more with expats from San Francisco we will be naked wherever and whenever we choose. I am currently reading a book called "Too old to be naked" by John Reyna. tongue in cheek of course. He talks of Saline Valley in Death Valley, out in the middle of nowhere one can be naked anywhere at any time. I enjoyed doing so many times there. Take care and stay bare
Let's not forget the women who participated. They were in the minority, but they contributed greatly.

Great story! Loved it!

How is it now? Is nudity banned? Thanks for all you do!

So into which category did the 7/14/2025 photo of you fall?
Not legal, not unusual, and no one seems to care.
I.e. the lax enforcement you mentioned. Thank you.
Yeah I would think cops had more pressing concerns than hassle a nude person? Oh well stay naked my friend I wish more would join you!
