There is a difference between personal body freedom and body freedom expression. Art is a good example of body freedom expression, but it is not personal to me, unless I am part of the Art. Protest nudity can also be body freedom expression. Example: the top free protests and WNBR. No, these are not expressions of nudism, but they are of body freedom.
The WNBR was originally not a nudist event. It used nudity as shock value, rather than to try and normalise it. Motorists who injure cyclists on our roads always come up with the excuse that they never saw the cyclist. The catch phrase of the WNBR is, "If we ride naked, now can you see us?!"
It's only in later years that the event was expanded to include other concepts as caring for the environment, and body positivity.
Let’s have respectful boundaries and not force our lifestyles on others. Keep our push to legalize/ normalize nudity in place where swimwear is already considered appropriate; such as beaches, swimming areas, campgrounds, etc. Showing up naked at the latest social justice protest/ riot does nothing to advance our cause.
Here in New Zealand we have no laws preventing appropriate public nudity. Obviously there are appropriate outdoor environments such as beaches, national parks etc where you don't need to wear clothes. We don't have specific nudist beaches or other places, and we don't need them. We don't "force our lifestyles on others" - people are free to wear clothes or not. It's their choice. If anyone doesn't like the sight of a naked person, it's their problem to deal with. Offence is subjective. The naked body cannot offend anyone, You choose to take offence.
I don’t think that nude public protest has to be connected to nudism. I think nude protest is a really effective means to confront power structures and injustice. I wish more nude protest was used, especially with regard to environmental protest to reveal the fragility of our planet, and to emphasize non-violence.I do wish the nude protester in Los Angeles had had a clear message. I think that with a clear message, she could have advanced acceptance of social nudity and whatever her cause was or is, but as it was, I think her lack of clear messaging only furthered the perspective from conservatives that liberals are out of control.
From a conservative persons perspective, this lady appears to using nudity for the purpose of getting more attention. The same as the PETA protestors who showed up naked at department stores, protesting fur coats.
Maybe I am leaning a bit left on this, but freedom of speech can happen clothed or unclothed. In our somewhat conservative society, the sight of an unclothed person holding a protest sign is cause for many to do a double take and call into question the method of delivery. Had the young lady been clothed it wouldn't have garnered any real attention in the news media.
You will not get a clothing optional world where everyone recognizes the human body and all body parts are normal and natural until the general public regularly sees nonviolent, nonsexual, regular nude people in real life and real time in public scenes be it in political demonstrations, performance art, or just going about their day to day business.
Then we have the power to get rid of repressive police and censorship in old and social media.
I am a mixed feelings about this. I believe public nudity has a place and should be welcome, however I'm not sure if using it to push other political agendas is a good idea. Protest is about sending a message, it is intended to address inequities in our society. As such, I am leery of using the idea of going naked as a form protest. As a form of protest, it should have a clear message. What is the message?
It can don't doubt it. Most nudists would love to show freedom in public. That's why we are sectioned and fenced off in our little resorts out of view. I am not ashamed and hate that it has to be like it currently is.
In my opinion, the shock factor of being nude to promote your political agenda tells me that you don’t have a real argument! You just want attention! I believe a true nudist is always respectful of others and is not looking for attention but rather promoting the life style in respectful and suitable environments.
I would really like being able to get my mail and take out the garbage without being required to put on clothing. My back and side yards are already clothing free.
An example of how NOT to use your body to protest: at a large (for ruby red upstate SC) No Kings protest ( maybe 1000 people in front of the courthouse) a guy in a MAGA shirt started harassing the protesters. He then stood in the middle of the street, dropped his pants and bent over to shake his butt at the group. He was filmed and seen by multiple people. While the police say they were not allowed to leave their car during the protest and the “legal observer” was busy looking at his phone, the officers admitted that exposing his genitalia ( yeah they were hanging) to a crowd and cars that included children was against the law. Not to mention full frontal to the other side of the street and the blocked traffic. When multiple protesters offered film evidence they agreed to a public nudity citation. I don’t know if it actually was served but it did very little for his cause-both sides thought he was an idiot. So while I think nudity in some contexts can be useful, shaking your butt in the faces of 1000 people does not help anyone understand a cause IMHO.
More or less a full- time nudist except in populated spaces. Nude at home 24/7, nude driving all year, nude hiking on low use trails. We need to Nude is not Lewd from a slogan to protest actions demanding laws change.

That’s pretty cool you live in a nation that is accepting of nudity. We’re trying to figure out how to make progress over here in our country.

i just think nudity like the woman protester does not represent us nudist . it should be discreet and not in public,

A nude in a protest is definitely not going to help our cause.
