It’s sad that the traditional clubs are disappearing, but it seems very true, as you point out in your article, the very face of Nudism is changing. It’s now another form of recreation and there are destination resorts that cater to the nudist crowd. The thing I’m noticing that troubles me is that those participating seem to be young adults, middle aged adults and retired adults none of whom are including their children. It troubles me that the family aspect seems to have disappeared.
The family aspect is switching to more private aspects and free-area aspects, such as clothing optional beaches and the like. Or dwindling specific clubs that cater almost exclusively to families such as Bare Oaks and a youth camp in the Midwest US although the name and exact area elude me. A lot of the blame for that falls on draconian laws, insurance and regulations as well as a HORRENDOUS inability for the nudist communities out there to self police sexual behaviours, harassment and entitlement from (mostly) men that have bad intent. Add to that the major internet companies like Google and Meta basically emiminating family naturism from their platforms and you basically have a perfect storm.
I believe that’s true. You’ve summed it up well. I live in a nudist community in Palm Springs. We were once associated with Desert Sun Resort which is adults only. Although our HOA allows children, we have none living here and rarely any visiting and, in fact, most of our homeowners don’t even tell their families that they are nudists. Woe is me.
And what of the property? Will it become a textile resort? Sold to a bazillionaire as a private residence once again? Subdivided to become Goodland Estates?
EVAN NICKS - Please call Jack Korzilius again. We lost your number, but please call the Goodland office number and we will certainly return your call. And hey, thanks for the great article about the history of Goodland. Very well done. - Goodland Country Club
A very nice & informative article. Any institute having its own glorious past, when it gets close down for any reason, it saddens everyone, even for the people indirectly associated. When the case is of the naturist institute, it saddens every naturist more deeper, as the naturist community itself being minority when compared to the textile society.
A pity Goodland couldn't have been incorporated where the members own shares of it so that it could be saved. I wonder if that was even tried.
The possibilities of me ever visiting a nudist club are nil, but I still hate to see news like this.

I lived in NJ for decades and never knew it existed.
