Thank you for this article. Might I suggest Ted Shawn's book "One thousand and one night stands". Shawn set up the Denishawn School for dance in 1915 in L.A. with Ruth St. Denis. In 1933 he established the Jacob's Pillow dance center in New England. He is reported to have been a practicing nudist, and often he and his male ensemble performed only in flesh-colored g-strings.

I am of the opinion that nudity on the stage is an invaluable method of introducing textiles to nonsexual nudity. It is a completely safe environment. Even if they don't become nudists themselves, the shock they might experience at seeing a naked body becomes lessened. We need more stage nudity, not just of the young and fit but people of every age and condition and in every dramatic situation.

Most nudist performances require the audience to be nude. Consequently there is no benefit to the greater cause..
