Free legal webinar to explore how platforms censor nude art
Don’t Delete Art and legal partners host online event to empower censored creators
What happens when art is flagged, blurred, or deleted by social media platforms? For artists whose work explores nudity, sexuality, or other marginalized themes, it can mean erasure—not just of content, but of careers and community.
Don’t Delete Art (DDA) is a coalition working to change that. Born from a collaboration between the National Coalition Against Censorship’s Arts & Advocacy Program, Freemuse, Artists At Risk Connection, and individual artists and advocates, DDA exists to protect freedom of expression online—especially for artists who face disproportionate content moderation and censorship. This includes visual artists, photographers, and activists whose work engages with nudity, gender, sexuality, and the human body.
DDA’s work often intersects with the values of body freedom, offering support to creators whose nude expressions run afoul of corporate community guidelines. That includes fine art nudes, feminist self-portraiture, LGBTQ+ photography, and even digital nudist storytelling. Their advocacy highlights the often arbitrary and uneven enforcement of social media policies that can silence these voices.
On Thursday, April 3rd, DDA is joining forces with Lawyers for the Creative Arts and Saper Law to host a free virtual event titled Social Media & Art Censorship. The 90-minute webinar will unpack artists’ legal rights in the U.S., explain where the law currently stands, and answer questions about how to navigate—and challenge—platform censorship.
Social Media & Art Censorship
Thursday, April 3, 2025
1:00–2:30pm EST / 10:00–11:30am PST
Zoom (free, registration required)
Speakers include attorney Daliah Saper of Saper Law Offices, and DDA’s Emma Shapiro and Elizabeth Larison, who will share their expertise in both legal and advocacy-based approaches to online visibility for artists.
For anyone working at the intersection of nudity and art, this is a rare opportunity to learn from professionals who are actively fighting for more equitable digital spaces. The event is free to attend, and registration is open now. 🪐
I hope it was successful. I'm sorry I missed it.
I would really like to support but for the registration of this zoom program if you require a province in Canada for registration, you need to put the provinces in the list to choose from, it won’t register without a province. I hope you can fix this before April 3, Jeff M.
