Follow-up: Desert Sun Resort sold, rebranding as Casa Palma
New owner confirms property will not be nude use
Last week, Planet Nude reported that Desert Sun Resort in Palm Springs had officially closed, marking the end of one of Southern California’s last remaining AANR-affiliated nudist resorts. Now, new details have emerged about the future of the property.
The resort has been sold to Ryan Jaleh, an entrepreneur and co-founder of the wedding marketplace Weddily, who announced plans to reopen it as Casa Palma, a boutique hotel. In posts to both his Instagram and LinkedIn pages, Jaleh described the property as “a beautiful boutique hotel in Palm Springs” featuring “33 rooms over nearly 2 acres, multiple pools, multiple grassy lawns, a spa, a full-size tennis court, and a pool-front mountain-view restaurant and bar – all within 1 mile of downtown Palm Springs.”
Jaleh shared that his initial attempt to buy the resort in March 2024 fell through due to financing challenges but that he was later able to close the deal at a reduced price. “Some investors were getting cold feet, and I was running out of time,” he wrote. “I could have taken a big bet to hold it together but felt doing so would have added undue stress to my family, so I decided to surrender and let it go, and I was rewarded with that patience and discipline as a few months later I received a call from the seller with a substantial price reduction in hand.”
Crucially, Jaleh confirmed that Casa Palma will not continue as a nude-use property. However, the two adjoining condominium complexes—home to many longtime nudist residents—will remain clothing-optional. The relationship between these communities and the new hotel remains uncertain, especially given that the condo residents have long had easements granting them access to the resort grounds. “I’m not sure how we’re going to resolve that,” said
, HOA president of one of the apartment communities.Jaleh has expressed enthusiasm about the property’s potential as an event space, stating, “With our experience building Archive Rentals, it’s probably the events that compelled us the most in our conviction to make it happen – the property is idyllic for weddings, social and corporate events, and retreats.” However, it remains unclear whether Casa Palma would consider hosting occasional clothing-optional events or accommodating naturist guests in any capacity.
Attempts to reach Jaleh for further comment were unsuccessful.
With Desert Sun’s closure, Glen Eden Sun Club in Corona now stands as the only remaining AANR-affiliated nudist resort in Southern California.
Jaleh has encouraged those interested in Casa Palma to follow the property’s transformation on Instagram at @casapalma_palmsprings.
Planet Nude will continue following this story as more details emerge. 🪐
