I got poo-poohed on Naturist Hub about the threat to how we live when I posted there about progressive Krassensteins going after us. I hope people wake up to the real threats that are out there posed by the ignorant and the bigots.
I think many prefer to write off the threats because they don’t align with certain political ideologies. However, the threats aren’t strictly political. As the Krassenteins demonstrate, the threat is on both sides of the political aisle. Perhaps the biggest threat is environmental—of course that has been politicized too.
Thank you Chris for the offer. Much appreciated. I have the fondest memories of attending TNS Gatherings at Eastover. I doubt if either of us will be able to attend the Eastern Festival, however, I have a suggestion. How about reserving time during the festival for a video presentation. Eastover has large spaces like the barn and should have a large flatscreen television or monitor which could accommodate this. You may want to offer this to other organizations and individuals.
I share your concerns. Much of the rhetoric these days could quickly be aimed at naturist organizations, beaches, clubs, and resorts. I even worry about simply nudity in your own pool. So, I certainly know where you’re coming from. I feel too many naturists feel impervious to such forces due to the revenue the industry brings bring into Florida or their history and local support. Sadly, those factors could be quickly swept aside.
That said, facts and specifics play a part here. Can you share some specific bills and language being considered, that are driving the uptick in concern? That may help readers see the threat and understand the concern a bit clearer.
I don’t doubt the real possibility of such an attack on our freedoms. As this is a political matter, I would make a political observation that if they can banish any mention of homosexuality in our schools through grade 12, prevent any woman from ending a pregnancy (6 weeks!) before she hardly knows she’s pregnant, and attack Disney, the Happiest Place On Earth - the state’s #1 employer and source of revenue, threatening to run it out of Florida - all real recent actions - you sure as hell better believe they won’t give a hoot about how much $ Pasco might make from its several nudist resorts. It’s ALL about our governor making a name for himself with the radical Christian Right so he can beat Trump in the primaries. The wackier the action, the better.
I would like to see more specifics about what they might be up to. But anyone of the R persuasion should be ready to speak up immediately - the voice of D’s is disregarded in Tally any more. It’s up to those of you who voted for these legislators to stop the insanity before it’s too late.
Phil, you are absolutely correct. Just spent 2 incredible days at Haulover Beach with my article blown up on 2 A-frame signs on the main entrance at Lifeguard Stand #15. People were shocked, angry and couldn't understand why this was happening. Some was naive enough to think that because Haulover's clothing optional beach brought in so much money from the domestic and international tourists, that should be enough to keep it legal. I reminded them of what the governor, with the support of the legislature was doing to Disney World. They stunned look on their faces said it all. They finally got it.

Frogs boiling in water. We have to see and name the flame over and over.
Perhaps the fact that this article is written by the mother of Haulover herself will cause at least a few to take it more seriously
I hope so!
