I completely agree. I’m not an artist so don’t have art to contribute but want all to know that I appreciate human produced art and especially the art and comics from Planet Nude.

I really, really hate to remember that for a short time some years back (around the time John Oliver was showing off AI slop of himself marrying a cabbage without the same focus on the harms of AI found in later segments on his show) I spewed out a lot of AI slop because I felt it would be interesting to see what weird thing emerged from the prompt. I am deeply ashamed of that, and time has only shown me more clearly the harms of AI.

If youre against generative AI then stop hosting Fabien strips!! Theyre tacky AI comics that are very poorly drawn over and edited. Its astounding that nobody has commented on it already!!!

I have seen no signs that Fabien uses AI, especially comparing more recent strips to his much older work. His approach may not be to your tastes, but it's important to learn the signs of a piece being generated by AI before just making accusations. I say this from personal experience.

i think its pretty obvious upon taking a closer look. theyre clearly ai generated images that fabien edits to make the characters naked. just look at the backgrounds, theyre incoherent and details blend together oddly. im sure if you look closely you'll see what i mean.

I am certainly not an artist, but thank you for this. Another critical area is music, especially from independent artists. Many push back on it as well. Fiercely.

If AI gets out of hand (maybe we’re already there) our humanity is in deep shit. Fight back!

I love that you and your wide reach that Planet Nude can muster is speaking out about this. I irks me a lot for the naturist/nudist authors are posting with a lot of AI images as their banner art. That doesn't feel genuine and it can murky up the actual content of the article they are writing. I hope that more can be done to curb it's use and that it is shamed a lot more from other readers and publishers. There was one author (I won't name) that all the men in their images, had no penis's, and I thought it was so disingenuous to the movement and philosophy of naturism.

A quick production note: creating the off-putting texture was super-easy because I used Glaze, an app that adds pixel-level misinformation about the style of the image in an attempt to trick LLMs into miscategorizing it. It's not an airtight defense against getting your art scraped by LLMs, far from it, but it's a part of my swiss cheese approach to protecting my images. At medium settings and with a paper texture already present in the image, it adds a bit of randomness to the texture. At maximum settings, it will show unmistakable distortion that looks a lot like what you find in a generated image.

I have noticed that ClothesFree uses AI-generated photos, and not only that but their Twitter follows Donald Trump and LibsofTikTok. Pretty disappointing...
