As a new Trustee-elect we have big hurdles to overcome. The biggest problem is just communicating with the members. I hope to see the President at AANR Midwest Convention. We kind of feel ignored by AANR in my region, and that is the number one thing I heard out campaigning. One owner of a non-100% club laughed at me when I visited there for three days and announced I was running to represent her club and members at AANR. One life member I played pickleball with there became openly hostile, saying how he felt dissed and marginalized by AANR "Brass" when he happened to be camping when they had a meeting at Suwanee River at some unknown time, apparently no one went deck surfing...idk, and this is a guy that AANR helped him for child custody in a divorce (I do not think it is the current leadership but he would not say). Hostility was rare but the apathy out there is palpable. Sadly, only 13.,7% of the membership voted. As a person who got most of the members from my club to vote for the first time (only four of 200 voted in the last election) I would estimate at least half to sixty percent of our members do not have a valid way of getting their ballots. I kept having them call aanr. I wonder how many of the 23,000 total membership even have a valid email on AANR's register? Since none of those read the Bulletin so they have no clue of what is going on and many of those that that even get the link do not have a "log in" on the website. No wonder they feel out of touch. At least forty people told me "Too bad they stopped publishing the newsletter, it was nice." I tell them that it not only is they can get it by mail. You cannot believe the looks I get.
I can see why they are apathetic. Is this AANR's problem, a certifying officer's problem (maybe just having a certifying officer's workshop, or is it a personal problem?
Being a writer, communication should not be my problem. I plan on sending at least a letter out to all of my region's clubs each quarter to at least tell them what is going on to be put in their newsletters, at least they read those (usually), assuming they care enough to add them in. I also plan to get off my duff and get around to various clubs in my region. I realize my position is a minor one. I am just one man, on a board with seven people, stepping into other's fifedoms, and I suspect about all I can do or will be allowed to do will be to communicate.
I sincerely thank anyone who read this that voted for me, and any of you, find me at a convention at Fern Hills or Oregon this summer and ask me how I got the nickname "Olaf" I'll get a couple of coke's or adult beverages and I will share a tale or two and maybe learn something more interesting about your life.

Have you joined us for the AANR Meet & Greets on Zoom, every 1st & 3rd Thursday each month? There are people there from several states in your region, (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri.) And, the 3rd Thursday one has regional rooms. Right now, we've only been able to have East and West rooms because not enough regional officials are showing up so that we could have truly regional rooms, for each region. We really would like more regional officials to take part in these Zoom gatherings.
What was it that prevented you from voting? The election was promoted here, and on Reddit, and via The Bulletin. I received my ballot via email on May 1.
Needed a prompt by email and/or text that week. I had it written down in my calendar amongst all the other stuff and missed it. I did not vote in May because of some of the Podcast controversy I wanted to hear out.
My email Bulletan does not all download and I don't use Reddit.
I don't think the low voter turnout was due to people forgetting. This turnout was very similar to that of the last election, two years ago. That's despite having a much more active race for President this time, and more contested races than last time. It's been made pretty easy for people to vote, but still AANR members don't seem to bother, which is sad to see, and puzzling.
One thing I did notice, the final reminder e-mail went out 2 days before voting ended, which I could see people missing if they didn't check e-mail for a couple days. Maybe an earlier reminder, say a week before, might have been good, too.
