Can AI ever represent real nudity?
In this #UndressedThread, we’re exploring the tension between artificial images and authentic embodiment
As AI image tools grow more convincing, naturist communities face a new kind of challenge: what happens when the nude body is no longer photographed, painted, or seen—but generated?
This week on Planet Nude, we published The fake nudity crisis, exposing the rise of “nudify” tools that strip away consent, dignity, and truth. But even outside of abuse, the spread of synthetic nudity raises deeper questions. Naturism is grounded in honesty, body autonomy, and real experience of being nude. If our movement begins using artificial bodies to tell our story… do we risk forgetting what it means to show up as ourselves?
So, in this week’s #UndressedThread, we’re asking:
Have you seen Gen AI used effectively to support naturist values?
Does it ever help promote body freedom, or only simulate it?
Let’s talk about where we draw the line (and why). Share your thoughts below. 🪐

I agree with what Matthew McDermott wrote over on Bluesky:

"One of the most important and valuable aspects of naturism is *authenticity*. We can be our authentic selves and relate in an authentic way. This is so rare and valuable in our modern world! And genAI is the polar opposite of it. It has no place in our community."
I believe AI generated nude images will prove to be a detriment to nudism. Al will produce images that would be considered to be perfect compared to the reality of imperfections that we as nudists have grown to appreciate.
