Last year we ran our first reader survey: 600+ of you answered 75 questions about how you practice naturism, what holds you back, and where you want this movement to go. It became some of the most useful reporting we did all year, and we vowed to make it an annual thing.

This year it’s back, and it’s not just for our readers anymore. Nobody actually knows the state of naturism right now. Formal club membership has been shrinking for years, while the number of people who consider themselves naturists looks larger than ever, and no one is tracking that gap consistently, movement-wide, over time. We’re calling this the Naturism Survey: a core set of questions, asked the same way every year, so the results actually mean something beyond a single snapshot.

That only works with a bigger, more varied sample than our own subscriber list, and that’s where we need help. If you run a club, sit on the board of an organization, or help moderate a beach or event group, please put this in front of your members: drop it in your newsletter, post it to your group’s page or chat, bring it up at your next meeting. If you’re just a reader, forward it to the naturists in your life who aren’t on Planet Nude: a friend from the club, a group chat, a local Facebook page. None of us gets a full picture of this movement alone. A club’s membership, a beach community, a Discord server, a Planet Nude subscriber list: each is one slice. Put them together and we start to see something closer to the whole.

This year also digs into last year’s biggest finding: the gap between people who say they’d defend nude beaches and the few who’ve ever actually contacted an official about one, with new sections on advocacy, visibility and photo-sharing, and how people actually find their way into naturism.

It’s anonymous. No email, no sign-in required. Only aggregate results get published, same as last year. But those aggregate results will be made available to all as valuable data—for free.

Last year Team Planet Nude came in second place by just $243. This year we came in first.

Team Planet Nude raised $3,495 for the Fistula Foundation, our best year ever and enough to fund five complete surgeries with a good start on a sixth. Thirty of you gave. That’s thirty people who decided a woman they’ll never meet deserved her life back, and then did something about it. But Team Planet Nude this year was but a very small part of what has become a growing global movement. Below we have a bunch more details and numbers from this year’s Skinny Dip Day, covering our global impact and participation. And at the end of this post we have a photo gallery of dozens of participating teams and individuals from all around the world. Many of you sent in photos from your dips, from beaches and rivers and backyard pools all over the world, and the whole gallery is waiting at the bottom of this post.

The bigger picture

This year Skinny Dip Day as a whole raised over $18,000, blowing past its $15,000 goal, with 263 supporters across thirty-two teams. That’s roughly twenty-eight surgeries funded in a single season.

Congratulations to Gunnison Beach, who finished second with $2,200 and forty-three supporters. They beat us last year and they pushed us this year. Special shout-out to Oaklake Trails for third place and Glen Eden for fourth, and honorable mention to Avalon West Virgina—all three first-year teams showing up as powerhouses for this fundraiser. Longtime team Indiana Naturists also had their best year yet, raising $1,000. Black Naturists Association members hosted dips in nine different locations all around the U.S. and even as far as Portugal! All of this contributed to the best turnout year of all time for SkinnyDipDay.org. That kind of energy and commitment says everything about the movement we’re all building together. That’s what it’s about!

The initiative has now raised more than $61,000 for the Fistula Foundation over its history, funding almost a hundred surgeries. Every dollar of that goes to curing women of obstetric fistula, a childbirth injury that causes chronic incontinence and profound isolation. One surgery costs $624 and gives a woman back her health, her dignity, and her place among other people.

Our backyard party

This year I hosted our skinny dip at my home, which was new for me. Ten of us gathered in my backyard in Boulder City on the afternoon of the 11th, cohosted with the Las Vegas Bares, who brought a great group of friends. It was 110 degrees, but we beat the heat with barbecue, a pool, some ice-cold drinks. We raised over $250 on the spot, every dollar of it going to the Fistula Foundation.

Zaftig Pink made us another original for 2026, a psychedelic space pastoral that went onto tanks, tees, mugs, water bottles, and stickers. Merch sales added another $164 to the fundraiser after costs.

For two years, Team Planet Nude has been a remote team, all of us dipping from wherever we happened to be. This year I wanted to try something different. On Saturday, July 11, I’m hosting a Skinny Dip Day pool party at my place here in Boulder City, and I’m thrilled to be throwing it together with the Las Vegas Bares.

If you’ve followed along this year, you know I came to naturism out in California and have since made my way back home to southern Nevada. Getting to know the local community has been one of the best parts of being back, and the Las Vegas Bares are a big piece of that. They’re a nonlanded group that keeps social nudity alive around the valley with pool parties, hikes, hot springs trips, and get-togethers. They welcome everybody, and they’ve been doing this a long time. When the idea of a hosted party came up, teaming with them was the obvious move. So here’s what we’re putting together:

Saturday, July 11 · 3:00–7:00 PM · Boulder City, NV

We’ll spend the afternoon poolside in my backyard, taking a dip, soaking up the (intense, desert) sun, and raising money for the Fistula Foundation. It’s clothing-optional, family-friendly, and about as laid-back as it gets. There’s a deep, warm pool with a diving board, catered BBQ, music, lawn games, and good company. Bring a hat, bring your own drinks, and come meet some good people.

Admission is $15, and every dollar goes straight to the cause. A donation jar and online giving will be on-site too, for anyone who wants to give more.

The one catch: the address is private. Once your RSVP is confirmed, we’ll email you the location and the final details. Space is limited, so if you’re anywhere near southern Nevada and want to join us, reserve your spot now.

But the reason Team Planet Nude does this every July is worth saying plainly, because it’s easy to lose under all the splashing, and your support can change lives.

Obstetric fistula is a childbirth injury. It happens when a long, obstructed labor goes untreated, usually somewhere without access to a surgeon, and it leaves a woman with chronic incontinence she can’t control or hide. The result is almost always the same: she’s pushed out. Out of her marriage, out of her work, out of her community, often blamed for a thing that was never hers to prevent. It is one of the most isolating conditions a person can live with, and it is built almost entirely out of shame.

That last part is why this cause sits so squarely with us. We’re a community that has spent a long time arguing that there’s nothing shameful about a body, that shame is something done to people rather than something they’re born owing. Obstetric fistula is body shame in its most brutal, literal form. And unlike most of what we write about, this one has a fix.

One surgery. About $624. It repairs the injury and gives a woman back her health, her dignity, and her place among other people. The Fistula Foundation has funded over 100,000 of these procedures. Every dollar we raise goes straight to the next one.

You don’t have to take off a stitch to be part of this. You don’t have to send a photo, buy a shirt, or get anywhere near a body of water. You can just give, and know that you moved a real woman somewhere closer to a cure.

Glen Eden Sun Club is one of the largest and best-known clothing-free resorts in Southern California, so it's a little surprising that 2026 marks the club's first year fielding a team for Skinny Dip Day. What inspired your team to get involved in Skinny Dip Day?

Glen Eden Sun Club is built on community, inclusion, and supporting one another. When we learned about the life-changing work of the Fistula Foundation, getting involved felt like a natural fit. We’re honored to join people around the world in raising funds and awareness for such an important cause.

What makes your team special?

As a clothing-free resort, we’re dedicated to creating an environment where people can feel comfortable, accepted, and at ease in their own skin. International Skinny Dip Day celebrates that spirit of freedom and authenticity, making this fundraiser a natural fit for our community.

What’s been the most memorable moment of your fundraising journey so far?

We’re still in the early stages, but it’s been inspiring to see our members rally around the cause. And, to add a little fun, everyone who donates through Team Glen Eden is entered for a chance to throw a pie at one of our board members!

What impact do you hope this fundraiser will have?

Arguments emerged that blurring a face is simply a practical way to protect a career or maintain privacy. Others questioned whether hiding a face unintentionally changes the message a naturist photo sends, especially when the goal is advocacy.

The Black Naturists Association has spent years working to make naturism more welcoming, building inclusive spaces around a simple conviction: naturism is for every body, not just a certain kind. That mission is the heart of everything BNA does, and it carries right into Skinny Dip Day. What inspired your team to get involved in Skinny Dip Day?

International Skinny Dip Day is a fun way to introduce people to naturism in a positive and welcoming environment. BNA has been committed to creating more inclusive spaces within naturism, and Green Valley has a long history of promoting body acceptance and community. Add those two together and you have a winning combination! When I was asked to host the event again this year, I saw it as an opportunity to help people experience naturism for themselves and discover that it’s much more about community and self-acceptance than most folks know.

What makes your team special?

What makes our group special is that we intentionally try to make everyone feel welcome, regardless of your background and relationship to naturist events. We want people to feel comfortable showing up as they are. We believe naturism is for every body, not just a certain type of body, or a certain look, and we work hard to create an atmosphere where people can relax, connect, and simply enjoy being themselves in their most natural state. And you get to step out of your comfort zone in the process!

What’s been the most memorable moment of your fundraising journey so far?

The most memorable moments have been meeting people who were nervous about attending their first naturist event and then watching them leave with a completely different perspective. Seeing someone realize they don’t have to hide, compare themselves to others, or worry about being judged is incredibly rewarding.

What impact do you hope this fundraiser will have?

I hope it raises awareness and support for an important cause while also introducing more people to the naturist community. If we can help someone in need and help someone discover greater confidence and self-acceptance at the same time, that’s a win on both fronts I’d say.

What’s one message you’d like to share with supporters?

Come as you are! You don’t need the perfect body, the perfect level of confidence, or any prior experience to participate. Besides, nothing is perfect anyway, other than it being the perfect time to try something new! 🪐

Skinny Dip Day is a fundraiser for the Fistula Foundation, which provides free surgeries to women suffering from obstetric fistula, a childbirth injury that causes chronic incontinence and deep social isolation. It’s a devastating condition, and it’s curable. Just $619 covers one full surgery and gives a woman back her health, her dignity, and her place in her community. As SkinnyDipDay.org founder Thomas Francine likes to point out, it’s a cause with a fitting overlap: it cures women of some of the most severe body shame in the world. That’s not a bad thing for a community built on body freedom to get behind.

Lupin Lodge has been welcoming naturists to the Santa Cruz Mountains for more than ninety years, which makes it one of the oldest naturist retreats in the country. Tucked into the hills south of San Jose, the women-owned lodge has been around long enough to have watched the whole arc of American nudism pass through its gates. This summer it joins the roster of teams raising money for the Fistula Foundation ahead of the July 11 dip, and it's marking the occasion with a full pool party. We asked the lodge to share a bit about it, and Christy answered on Lupin's behalf.

What inspired your team to get involved in Skinny Dip Day?

We were inspired by the opportunity to take part in a global effort supporting an important cause. Skinny Dip Day is an international movement, and there’s something very meaningful about people coming together across different places in shared purpose. That feeling of collective action is what drew us in.

What makes your team special?

Lupin Lodge is a long-established naturist retreat nestled in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. We are women-owned and have been operating for over 90 years. It is a space where people can arrive, relax, and participate in a naturally social and open environment.

What’s been the most memorable moment of your fundraising journey so far?

Our first year stands out as especially memorable. The pool party that day had an incredible atmosphere—people were enjoying themselves, engaged, and fully present. It continues to be one of our most meaningful and uplifting events at Lupin Lodge in recent years, bringing together the spirit of giving, caring, and connection.

What impact do you hope this fundraiser will have?

We hope to raise awareness for the Fistula Foundation and the challenges many women face around the world. Beyond fundraising, we hope the event builds compassion, strengthens community, and inspires connection across all Skinny Dip Day locations globally. Ideally, it also encourages others to create or support their own meaningful causes.

What’s one message you’d like to share with supporters?

Come as you are and be part of something positive. Skinny Dip Day is an opportunity to support an important cause while enjoying a day of creativity, connection, and community. 🪐

Indiana Naturists is a tight-knit club and a Skinny Dip Day regular. Year after year, this Midwestern group throws open its doors to newcomers, takes the plunge, and raises a little more for the cause than the time before. This summer they’re back on the roster of teams supporting the Fistula Foundation ahead of the July 11 dip. We asked them about it, and Chris answered for the club.

What inspired your team to get involved in Skinny Dip Day?

I didn’t know about this fundraiser until Thomas reached out to me. I was familiar with the skinny dip world-record attempts that took place during Nude Recreation Week years ago (Steph and I appear in several photos from Sunny Haven celebrating those events).

I remember speaking with Thomas on the phone. As he explained his mission and the work of the Fistula Foundation, I quickly made the connection: body shame and isolation don’t get much worse than what these women experience. As a naturist, there was no way I wasn’t going to get involved. How could any naturist not?

What makes your team special?

Team Indiana Naturists, although small compared to many groups, serves as a stepping stone for new naturists in our area. Our primary goal is to show the world how positive naturism can be. We aim to be a welcoming place where people can “find out” whether naturism is right for them.

We’re easy to reach with questions, and we also take safety seriously by conducting background checks for everyone, including guests. Membership is affordable, but we remain a well-managed community.

Skinny Dip Day gives us the opportunity to invite non-members for a day and provide that first experience, which is often the hardest step. Even if someone doesn’t join our club afterward, we hope they leave with a better understanding of what naturism is really about and a greater awareness of the important work done by the Fistula Foundation.

What’s been the most memorable moment of your fundraising journey so far?

2025 was our largest-attended event ever. The weather was beautiful, our first guests arrived around 9:45 a.m., and our last guest left after 10 p.m. I was exhausted by the end of the day, but it was worth it. We welcomed more people than ever before and raised our club’s record amount for the fundraiser.

What impact do you hope this fundraiser will have?

First and foremost, we hope to raise as much money as possible for the Fistula Foundation so more women can receive life-changing surgery and reclaim their lives. Beyond the fundraising, we hope to raise awareness. Many people have never heard of obstetric fistula until they learn about Skinny Dip Day. If our event helps someone discover both the cause and the solution, that’s a win.

We also hope the event helps break down misconceptions about naturism. When people attend and see a welcoming, respectful community coming together to support a worthy cause, they often leave with a completely different understanding of what naturism is all about.

What’s one message you’d like to share with supporters?

Thank you for supporting a cause that restores dignity, health, and hope to women who have suffered tremendously. It’s body shame at its worst. Every donation matters, and every conversation helps spread awareness. 🪐

Every year since we started fielding a Skinny Dip Day team, the artist Zaftig Pink has made us an original piece to rally around. It’s become one of my favorite parts of this whole thing. The shirts and stickers and mugs it ends up on are how a lot of you chip in, since every dollar of merch goes straight to our Fistula Foundation fundraiser. And every year he somehow tops himself.

When Zaftig first sent over the concept, he described it as a “space pastoral,” and that’s exactly what it is: a pack of green, antennaed beings lounging in a turquoise spring beneath a trio of giant carved stone faces, a ringed planet overhead, a tree growing planet-shaped fruit. He pitched the palette as something like 80s Miami neon, purples and blues, and that’s what landed on the page. Take a look.

Well, mostly. Stick around to the end and I’ll happily take your donation. But the real reason I’m writing is to tell you about something bigger than our team, and to maybe nudge a few of you to go start one of your own.

For three years now, Planet Nude has fielded a team for Skinny Dip Day, the annual fundraiser for the Fistula Foundation. It has been, hands down, one of the most rewarding things we do all year. We’ve watched readers dip from lakes and rivers and backyard pools all over the world, and together we’ve funded real surgeries for real women living with obstetric fistula. There is something genuinely moving about a scattered, oddball community deciding to pull in the same direction for a week.

And here’s the thing: you can have that too.

Skinny Dip Day isn’t a closed club. Anyone can start a team, a nudist resort, a beach group, a podcast audience, a circle of friends, a single determined person with a kiddie pool. You set up a page, you rally whoever you can, you take a dip, and every dollar you raise goes straight to curing women of one of the most isolating, shame-inducing conditions on earth. That’s it. The whole thing is run by the relentlessly good-hearted Thomas Francine, and it’s about as low-pressure as fundraising gets.

Planet Nude and Humanist Meditation founder Richard Dewey are hosting a special free nude meditation session for the Planet Nude Discord community later this month.

The live online session will take place on:

The event is designed as a welcoming introduction for anyone curious about meditation, mindfulness, or clothing-optional spaces. No prior meditation experience is required.
